I did a search of acne neonatorum. this is a very common occurence in
babies, bf or bottle fed. and is often taught to parents in 'care of the
newborn' type classes. I found this on a family practice medicine website:
Pathophysiology
Maternal Androgenic hormones stimulate sebaceous glands
Resolves when maternal hormones wane after 3 months
Signs
Lesions
Comedones
Papules
Nodules
Distribution: Face
Management
Resolves spontaneously without treatment
If treatment is requested
Over the counter acne soaps (low pH)
Sparing use of Benzoyl Peroxide
Wash (5%)
Gel (2.5%)
