Hi Debbie,

Avent has a full page in 'Breaking the rules - stretching the rules 2001', the IBFAN
booklet.
The verdict was:
- Promotion to the public: substantial violation
- Promotion in health care facilities compilance unknown
- Adequate labels: substantial violation.

Avent has different advertising in different countries.
In one ad they equate breastfeeding with bottle feeding, on their dispay racks they show
happy families bottle feeding, and some labels contain these quotes: 'best for combining
breast and bottle feeding', 'just like mother's breast', 'your babies natural feeding
companion up to 36 month', 'allows baby to suckle just like at mother's breast' and
'medically proven to reduce colic in the newborn'.

Remember, most of these labels are not for the Avent Isis breastpump, but for the bottle
feeding stuff.
