Dear lactnet,
This is a fu post to my post on Fri 3/15 re: mastitis
On 3/14 the mom got on dicloxacillin 500mg QID for 24 hr.
she got worse was switched to cephalexin 500 mg QID on 3/15
no improvement or worse so she went in last night 3/16 and was
given IV loading dose 1 gm of Rocephin. She is still not better this
morning so she will be going back in. I suggested to her that they
might want to look at records of the labs ie; cultures taken from her prior
surgery for her right breast abcess. I feel like Im clutching at straws
here and am so open to all suggestions. In terms of bf mgmt she said his
latch is improved and he is nursing continuously on the affected side and
pumping the other as he still will not nurse on it.
 Thank you Chris Clark IBCLC
