I was in my local Wal Mart yesterday.  They apparently are at the beginning
of "Baby Week".  I'm not sure what that means exactly, other than a
marketing ploy.  I was quite upset to see one of the freebies they were
offering.  It was a "gift pack" which included Enfamil formula, a diaper,
a spoon, and advertising.  I did not take the pack, so I am not sure what
else was in there.  When offered the pack, I told them that I did not use
formula for my baby (Just turned 2 years and quite often asks "Nurse, pease,
mommy).  I did not say more because #1.  I do not come up with tactful
responses very well on the spur of the moment, and #2 I did believe the
semi-retired greeter had any control over what was given out.  She was just
excited to be able to give someone this "great" freebie.  I don't know if it
is just at my small town Wal Mart, or all Wal Marts.  I do intend to send a
letter from our local Breastfeeding Coalition to Wal Mart.  Just wanted to
let others know that this is happening.  Maybe if many of us responded, Wal
Mart may re-evaluate their procedures.
