How old is this infant?
If the baby is just going for overnights I don't think this is much different than what happens to babies who are away from moms during daycare or other mundane separations. I'm sure mom is unhappy, as the situation is unfriendly. However, unless Dad is unfit as a caregiver I'm not sure that "traumatic weaning" fits this situation.
A good pump is in order. And if this baby is too young for cups, and has not had bottles, someone needs to clue Dad in on ways to help the baby accept an artificial teat.
If Dad was fighting for full custody, and/or mom being told to stop BF, it would be a different story. I hate to see breastfeeding used as a reason for fathers not to be able to see their children. It does no good for breastfeeding promotion.

I am working with a mom in California who is in the middle of a divorce and
has to send her daughter to an overnight with the father on Friday night. I
would like to provide this mom's lawyer with research regarding traumatic
weaning. Please let me know as soon as possible where I can find such
studies. This lawyer is totally clueless about breastfeeding,
unfortunately. Liz, if you read this and can send me some cites I'd really
appreciate it. Sadly, I think this situation is past the point of the mom
being able to work with the dad on this. I will suggest mom call you for
more suggestions.
