Judy,
Your idea is an excellent one. We have a pumping log that is just a time
grid for pumping with the goal of 8-10 pumpings The reverse side is pump
care and cleaning as required by our special care nursery. When I orient a
SCN mom to the pump I introduce her to her new second "baby". I tell her
she must feed this "baby" as often as she would feed the real one if he were
with her. That makes her laugh and she is often better about remembering to
pump. I also encourage the moms to carry their kits with them. We can
bring pumps to the baby's bedside or they can go to the pump rooms scattered
around the nursery. Our hospital is quite committed to providing the
breastmilk to the babies, so they try to make it as easy as possible.
I will have to look into adding the other information to our log.
Sue
