You can teach mom to fingerfeed the baby for a few days, this usually
gets the tongue off the palate. Sometimes a nipple shield helps as
well. Make sure the baby is not fixing his tongue tip to his palate to
stabilize his airway. If this is happening, extending the baby's head
while feeding is helpful. If there is an LC in your community, refer
the mom and baby if you don't have the above skills, and go along and
watch if you can.
