I apologize if this has already been discussed. I get lactnet digest and
I don't always get to read it all.
Has anyone out there looked at the new Avent video featuring Dr. Lucas
and claiming that the Isis is as effective as a hospital grade electric
for moms of preemies? The film is impressive but I am a little skeptical
about bringing milk in with this pump. I think it is great as an adjunct
to an electric... for when mom is away and needs an easy, portable
solution. But... to bring in a supply????

PS. Thank you Kathy for the scholarly discussion of tooth crowding and
breastfeeding among those of European descent. I happily report that,
despite my own serious overcrowding... none of my breastfed children
have needed braces. And my sis, who has a more difficult time than I
with her teeth... has needed braces for the first (bottle fed) child and
her second (breastfed) seems to have a wonderful set of straight and
uncrowded teeth coming in. I continue to recommend extended breasfeeding
for those with genetic predisposition to dental crowding... with the
qualifier that it is not a guarantee.... merely something to stack the
odds in your favor!
