Elyse:
My recommendations (putting to gether all the useful advice I have received
in regard to my own children) would be to encourage three kinds of
supplements: flax seed oil (2 or 3 spoonfuls a day per child--the oil needs
to remain cold in order to retain its nutritional benefit--can be given plain
or mixed in with smoothies or some other cold food); a concentrated whole
food supplement like Yummi Bears or Juice Plus for Kids (as opposed to a
multivitamin); and fresh whole veggie/fruit juice combos made from a juicer
at home (the juicers are rather inexpensive to purchase and the juice combos
should include veggies and fruits that are the most power-packed with the
widest variety of vitamins and minerals). These things should really boost
the appetite of the kids fairly quickly while also providing a rich base of
vitamins and minerals.
And I think it's great that you see the value of continuing to breastfeed!!
