The recent thread on whether an LC should write for formula companies leads
me to the following question: What is the general opinion of Lactnet
participants, especially those of you who publish, on writing breastfeeding
articles for mainstream magazines that advertise formula, seemingly on every
other page. Also these parenting magazines so often have misinformation
about breastfeeding and it does seem a way to reach more mothers and
mother-to-be, than some of the excellant "alternative" magazines that
unfortunately reach far fewer women.
I'm interested because I like to write and have a few article ideas that I
feel are just screaming for publication and would like to see what response
I'd get from submitting. I definitely don't want to submit if as Marsha
Walker recently stated (re the writing for ABM companies) my "integrity
becomes eroded" because my article faces a formula ad on the opposing page.
Replies appreciated and thanks for the input.
