Interesting that this should come up. Just two days ago I had my annual eye
exam. My 2 yr old was getting restless, and the optometrist told me I could
hold my son in my lap if I needed to. As I was gathering him up in my arms,
the optometrist said, "Yeah. I've done tons of exams with breastfeeding
moms. My favorite story is when I did an eye exam while a mom was
breastfeeding both of her twins...at the same time!" I replied, "Good for
you. Last year I was nursing my son during my eye exam myself." He gave a
good chuckle and added, "I figured after that I could do an exam during
ANYTHING!" Another good chuckle!! :-) I think this other optometrist is
just uncomfortable with breastfeeding and is being a jerk about it.
