Thanks to Pardee Hinson for this reminder. I checked with my local dentist
about clipping. He does this for older children with speech problems as a
result of tongue tie, but does not for infants under 1 year (his
preference). However, he was intersted in the problems I was relating and
said he would "check around" for me.
Upshot of that visit was that he checked with the local oral surgeon (in
the same building) and he is happy to clip frenula in small babies if
necessary. Next time I encounter a mother whose baby needs evaluation for
short frenulum, I plan to ask if we might visit him together so that we can
share information from two differnet perspectives. When that happens, I
will share the experience with all LACTNETters! :-)
