As a "person of faith" I was in no way offended by the post in
question. In fact, it helped understand why some parents will follow
edicts with a religious claim so readily when such edicts seem to me to
be not only illogical, but against everything I believe about our
Creator. It helped me "walk in their shoes" just a little. It must be
very hard for such parents to have their instincts tell them the
opposite of what they have come to believe is best for their baby in the
long run (eternity). They must be torn apart by this conflict-not
coldly ignoring their babies as we have sometimes tended to view them.
We need to first acknowledge this conflict rather than approaching with
a "how could you do this to your child" standpoint.
