HIPAA is huge in the US. Our hospital has at least one person working
FT on this. I just returned from a large conference and there was a
session just on this, plus much other discussion of it. There is a web
site, of course. Health based software companies are scrabbling to
build in safety factors. It is definitely going to run the way things
are done for now--until the next big buzz word idea comes along. I
don't know what we are doing about reporting possible problems. We
have had a program through-out the state reporting and then visiting
homes where there is potential for problems with the hope of catching
and fixing them before they arise. I'd be interested in how they are
being handled in other hospitals.
