Dear Lactnetters
We have here the mother of a 20 months old boy, who has been operated on for
an intestinal obstruction, and has actually an ileostomy. He is still
breastfeeding about 3 time a day.
The doctors say that he must have no more than 200 g of stools per day with
the ileostomy, and he as actually about 500 g of stools. Doctors say that
"it is beacause breastfeeding", and would like this little boy to be weaned.
They cannot let him quit the hospital with such a quantities of stool,
because he need parenteral nutrition in compensation. Mother VERY worried...
Has something an opinion ? Seen a similar case ?
Thank you a lot
Kindly
