It has been a long time since I have posted, but I find myself in need
of input. I am "only" a LLLL and private practice LC. Have been in my
area for about 15 years so have seen a lot of moms here. I have had a
somewhat hostile relationship with some of the other professionals in
the area. I had a talk several days go with an MD with whom I am
friendly and she mentioned the breastfeeding task force was re-forming.
I hadn't known. She promised to get the info (we were out at the YMCA at
the time) to me. This morning I received a call from one of the
nurse/LC's from the hospital inviting me to attend the meeting-
tomorrow! I am intending to go, wearing two hats and all. My decision
point is whether or not to approach the hostility issue at all. Given
the length of time I have avoided the issue (I am a true conflict
avoider!) I am of a mind that I have tried that approach and gotten
nothing for it. On the other hand I don't like the idea that I may cause
an escalation of the situation. I really don't know their issues or the
depth of their animosity. Maybe they just need to be reassured that I am
not attempting a coup, maybe they hate the air I breath. Who knows?

Anyone out their dealt with a similar situation? What did you decide in
the end? Any other thoughts?

Oh, another point is that this month I have dealt with several mothers
who were ready to quit breastfeeding due to conflicting advice and
divisive attitudes. So yes, this is more than my personal issue.

Any thoughts welcome!
