I was watching the "Medical Detective" on TLC last night and was
impressed with a study that involved the investigation in the Cleveland,
OH area regarding a group of sick babies and one dying from bleeding in
the lung. The illnesses they were seeing were linked to a mold called
(sp?) Stackybotrous a mycotoxin originally discovered in Europe with
animals. They further investigated hundreds of homes in a particular
area and found this mold in damp basements that had not been properly
cleaned after leakage had occurred. The one thing they wanted to
understand was why .not all the children living with this mycotoxin were
getting sick. Having been breastfed was a common denominator in the
majority!
