I couldn't agree more!  Also, I think it has something to do with fear...fear
of the unknown...a baby...a human being with multiple intense needs...and
fear of things that are hard and take practice and have a learning curve
(like parenting and bf).  These books offer control...control over the
unknown...then the unknown becomes something that the mom and dad can confine
into their own spheres of comfortability.

I try to tell moms to surrender instead of control.  Just let themselves go.
It's kind of like birth...surrendering to the process and the pain enables
women to cope MUCH better with birth and actually lessens the fear and pain.
The same approach can be used in parenting and bf in my opinion.  I
personally think that A LOT of bf "failure" (if we want to pick a term) boils
down to fear in the mom.
