Dear Friends,
I have been inactive on Lactnet recently due to other pressing projects...and
I miss it! But I have a question for you all.
Does anyone know of programs that provide postpartum doula services to
low-income women? My boss at our WIC-related breastfeeding program got the
brainstorm of looking for grant money to train breastfeeding peer counselors
as postpartum doulas and offer doula services to WIC moms. It looks like
such a great idea that I am sure somebody else has already done it. If so, I
would like to be in contact with them.
Please reply privately as well as to the list. I probably won't be reading
Lactnet until after the ILCA conference...certainly not until after I write
the "concept paper" we need if we are to look for money for this project.
I have already checked the DONA website and found great references in their
position paper on postpartum doulas.
Thanks in advance. I'm interested in everybody's input, not just U.S. or WIC
people!
