About Catherine's difficult feeding child:
I would (as you've done yourself) certainly recommend a thouroufg examination
for the child. obviously there is something wrong.
I do not have a favourite teat, but I do have a favorite advise for children
with feeding problems of this kind (and many, many others), be it breast- or
bottlefeeders: take half the amount per feed and feed twice as often (or a
quarter of it 4 times as often). Frequent small feeds are not only the right
choice for healthy breastfed children, but also, or even more for not-healthy
and bottlefeeding children..
If this child has difficulties emptying her bottle and gets fussy when milk
is coming faster and/or in a larger amounts, then why keep on teasing her in
order to get an x amount in in an y amount of time. It might very well
enhance this child's feeding problems and turn them into an feeding aversion.
Warmly greeting,
Gonneke
