I have tasted my milk, and on occasion, even drank amounts of it instead
of letting it go to waste. My husband has also drunk it on occasion,
though he thinks it would be better refrigerated. ;-) Maybe I should
wear ice packs. ;-)

However, I think perhaps the point was that this is milk she's bringing
home for her baby. If she spent a lot of time pumping it, she might not
want to let any of it "go to waste" so to speak by drinking it herself.

I think that might be the part that made her angry...and as for
embarressing, it's embarressing to be made a spectacle of because of
things like pumping one's milk etc. :-(

On a slightly different note, I have an online friend who has to be away
from her son for a full day (like 30 hours or so) once a week, so
therefore pumps (even at night) her milk. He's a young boy now (2.5 or
so). She says on the days when she hasn't had time to pump AND eat her
lunch, she swigs down whatever she pumps. She is someone who CANNOT
skip a meal easily (headaches, nausea, etc.) but feels just great with
even small amounts of her milk. Says this is proof that it is good
quality food that provides lots of energy.
