As an IBCLC I advised a mother with recurrent mastitis, to use lecithine
daily as descriped in the book of R. Lawrence called Breastfeeding. It is
also suggested in the Breastfeeding Answer Book from LLL. As this mother
went to the local pharmacologist (in Holland some sort of a drugstore), the
man was very surprised that she got this advice. He told her there were 4
sorts of lecithine and only one sort was compatible with breastfeeding. The
other ones were absolutely contra-indicated. This sort of lecithine had to
be specially ordered.
Has anyone ever heard of these different sorts of lecithine and if so,
which one is safe en do you have any documentation about this.
By the way, I am an IBCLC in Holland and work in an hospital. In Holland
lecithine is also used by people who trying to lose weight. They take one
teaspoon withe yoghurt (daily). It is very well-known to use it in that way.
Sorry for my English. Hope someone can help me.
