Permission for ALL care for mom is given when she is admitted. No "special"
permission needed. Emptying her breasts to relieve fullness or maintain
supply is simply good nursing staff practice. Maintaining her bodily
functions is part of her care. Of course there will be the folks who say
just let her dry up, we don't know if she will live anyway....but I know
from experience, when mom wakes up she will be grateful that this was done
for her so she can salvage one part of being a mom to her little stranger.
