I posted some time ago about a client who was experiencing bloody discharge,
bilaterally, although R > L. This had started approx 16 wks into pregnancy
and cont throughout. She is 37 yr primip. Bleeding enough to go thru bra
pads. She has now delivered full term infant and milk is coming in. She is
having still copious bloody milk/colustrum. Her OB, Peds, and surgeron have
all said they have no idea what it is, but not to feed. She has been
supplementing and is starting to pump today (day 3). She is going to pump
and keep all milk in seperate containers and then call me on monday with an
update.
I did look thru archives initially and thru the popular lactation text,
including info on intraductal papiloma but this is not fitting. Another
IBCLC is thinking 'rusty pipe' syndrome but I'm not sure. I am hoping the
blood clears up some with weekend pumping. Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated as she is waiting on my recommedations prior to giving any EBM.
Thank you!
