Hi Barb,
I've done high school classes for years. I try to arrange for a
breastfeeding mother/baby to be there. The baby provides an excellent visual
aid. I have a poster that I make up in advance using colored markers that
spells BREASTFEEDING vertically and I list several advantages beginning with
each letter. I then discuss the advantages with the class.
Sometimes I ask the teacher to have the class write questions on note cards,
in advance, or have them list things they have heard about breastfeeding and
I answer the questions after we discuss the advantages. One teacher assigned
The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding to read in preparation for the class. I ask
the class to raise their hands if they know they were breastfed. Good luck.
High School classes are fun!
