OK, OK, I apologize for shouting on LactNet. But I don't like having my
name/reputation used to lend 'credibility' to an organization that I am not
part of. And I don't think that agreeing to speak at a conference sponsored
by a particular entity makes one "associated" or "affiliated" with them,
such that either the individual or the organization gains credibility -- or
loses it -- by association.
The last I heard was that CAPPA was considering inviting me to speak, and we
were discussing fees. I had not gotten a formal invitation from them (I
have now, since this happened), and had no idea that they had put me up on
their web site as a speaker at their conference. They, in turn, thought
that someone had contacted me, sent a contract, etc., but the person had
not.
