Hi,
I have a new mom, just delivered her baby, and I am told she has a pituitary tumor being treated with Parlodel. I have searched the LACTNET archives, finding that Auerbach (and many others) suggests the mother does not need to wean when using Parodel, which is great. But I am confused, because Dr. Hale's book states that parlodel is an L5 risk, the highest, for breastfeeding moms, and suggests that a newer drug called Dosinex be used.
Does anyone have experience with moms using Parlodel successfully during lactation? I have no idea what this will do to her milk supply, I guess it could go either way. But my main concern is if Parlodel is transferred in significant quantities to the infant.
Thanks!
Brenda Phipps, BS, IBCLC
