This little device is marketed in the US as a great way to introduce solids
to the average baby--whatever that is! I, too, was dumbfounded when I first
saw it in a catalog--and months later when I first saw it being used by a
mother. It just seemed like another piece of generally unnecessary baby
paraphernalia to me--and one that might aid in the too-early introduction
of solids because a parent was no longer concerned about whether or not the
baby might choke on something that it would otherwise have been too young
to handle. However, when I was laying in bed that night attempting some
one-person brainstorming on how to help an older little one learn to
breastfeed, the little gadget came to mind as a wild idea that might not
hurt to try.
