If feeding baby by baby's cues, staying close to baby, feeding from the
breast rather than the bottle or jar are unrealistic expectations, then
what, exactly, are we supposed to expect of mothering? Or, for that
matter, from life? That we will be left alone to do what we want, as we
want, and that no one will be born or die? I guess I missed that lesson.
(Oh, right, my mother didn't try hard enough to train me up and teach me
a lesson...)
