business have ever noticed a funny suction-breaking sound when the mom is
pumping? It is almost a "fart" sound, for lack of a better word! <<<

My Lactina Plus does this!! The pump is about 4 years old and sent in to
Medela to have the motor inspected/serviced about two years ago. My
personal theory is that the sound is from worn rubber casket things -- the
little thin white rubber things that snaps over the opening in the bottom of
the bright yellow part that slip on the bottom underside of the
flange --sorry I don't know exactly what to call all of these parts. It
seems to slightly decrease suction, especially when double pumping.

I'd love to hear if anyone knows more about what is going on with this.
