I was never totally thrilled with this offering since they did avdertise
(or at least promote) certain bottles. Now this really corks me! I
have forwarded the info to our imediate supervisor who is an IBCLC
"wannabe". When we first started offering NC, she was reassured about
them not advertising formula. It will be interesting to see her
response to this change.

Here is what I wrote to the company:

Ms Moe-Cook,

I was very distressed to learn that your company had gone against their
stated policy and started advertising formula with no advance warning to

your customers that such a change would be taking place. In my opinion,

this is sneaky, unethical business tactics. One would suspect that your

advertisers had warned you that you might have some opposition, so do it

without any notice.

Because the Newborn Channel is offered BY the hospital, anything on it
implies support of that hospital for such products. It is not like
general TV channels being beamed to the public as a whole. I suspect
you will be losing the business of those hospitals who have obtained or
are working toward the Baby Friendly Certification. While the hospital
at which I work is not in either of these categories at this time, my
colleagues and I will be striving to bring about a change in what is
offered to our patients unless you go back to your originally stated
guidelines.

Winifred Mading RNC, IBCLC
