Greetings all,

I posted a question a few weeks ago about what type of bottle nipples were
being used for preemies. I wanted to share with everyone what I learned. I
got 7 responses and found that everyone is using different bottle nipples.
Some used regular standard latex nipples from formula companies. Gerber
standard and NUK are also used. Advent regular and variable used a lot in
Oregon. Red preemie nipples are still being used in some hospitals.

What I realized is that again we don't have much data to guide us in the
use of the BEST bottle/nipple for premature infants. So, I have another
question. Has anyone compared the Variable flow Advent to the Haberman?
They work on simular principles of adjustable flow rates? I also wonder
about the cleaning for the Haberman and Advent bottle nipples. How would
everyone be cleaning them in the NICU's to ensure there safety?

Thanks again for all your help.
Warmly,
Star Siegfried RN,BA,IBCLC. Arcata, California
