Hi, Everyone,

It is nice to be reading Lactnet posts again after a very long time away due
to a too busy schedule. This time I am visiting to share a post at the
request of Larry Gartner, MD. It seems this is the season for Wolf
books--this time the author is identified as a Jackie Wolf. I haven't seen
the book myself, but if Larry is commenting on it, it's worth a look!

Sincerely,
Betty Crase

Dear Friends,
I have been off Lactnet for some time now because time just doesn't
allow me the luxury of it. But, I wanted to tell you about a wonderful
new book that just came out that I am sure you will all want to read.
Jackie Wolf's book about the history of the decline in breastfeeding
in the U.S. around the turn of the century (19th to 20th) is titled:
"Don't Kill Your Baby". It is an incredible work of scholarship but it
is also captivating reading. It has some great pictures, as well. I
learned more about breastfeeding history in the U.S. than I ever knew
existed. It is important stuff and Jackie is to be complemented on a
really
remarkable book. It is published by the Ohio State University Press. I
think it is available from Barnes and Noble and Amazon on the internet.
   Happy Thanksgiving.
     Larry Gartner
