We have a cape in our office, a hemmed flannel circle with a Velcro closure at the neck. I bought it from a lactation consultant that made them at home.Sometimes I will use it with a mom if I feel she is very shy or having trouble relaxing. If she is pumping and the milk is not flowing, but we know there is plenty there, the cape may give her a "shield" to help provide her with extra privacy. I work in an area where many women are very modest.

Last week a mom was sitting in my office pumping without any type milk flow. She was peering anxiously at the bottles. I slipped the cape around her shoulders and we talked about other things for a while. I got her something to drink and told her she couldn't peep under the cape. After about 15 minutes we heard a kind of gurgly noise. We looked, and both milk containers were full to the top and about to overflow. I am a great fan of the cape for this type of situation!
