I have seen similar complaints. It does seem that if it were thrush it
would only be on one side, but I don't think it's impossible. Could the
non-affected side have been somehow better able to resist the
infestation of yeast?
Other things that come to mind are Reynaud's (sp?) of the nipple and
ductile spasms. If it were the former, there wound most likely be
blanching of the nipple in conjunction with the pain. Ductile spasms
can occur with "refilling". Taking calcium and magnesium reportedly
help in this case.
