As regards the "Judging Amy" episode (which I didn't see) and how they
condemned the mother for NOT letting the child decide to wean....doesn't
this happen all the time? Only instead of nursing too long, they nurse
too short a time. Aren't they both selfish?

I agree that the show implied the boy was nursing because his mother
wanted
him to , not because he did, but am dismayed since this will justify the
position of those who say "Long-term bfg is done for a mother's selfish
needs, not the child's" (a quote from my father - a well read,
brilliant,
medical consultant for the government and medical associations, and a
doctor).
