Dear Jessica, I've seen several babies like this. Maturation and patience
usually solves the problem. Basically I've had mom's use finger feeding
(tube on finger) and we try every 3-4 days to get baby to breast. Some moms
have also used one bottle in middle of night when very tired. Dad can help
with finger feeding while mom is pumping too. One baby transitioned to
breast with shield and supply line under shield and then to breast. He was
oldest at 20 days before actually at and on the breast. I think it is
important not to use a bottle routinely with these babies. I also think it
is important not to try to BF at every single feeding. Mom and Baby both
get very frustrated and baby seems to build up more resistance to going to
breast. Sincerely, Pat in SNJ
