I don't think you are wrong and many of us have worried about this since the
AAP posted a news release regarding jaundice as a "sentinel" event. As a
postpartum visiting nurse, I have not drawn a bili level in the last year or
so and have been ordered to draw 3 in the last week. I had been ordered to
draw them a few times over the past year but always managed to talk the pedi
out of them as I felt physical exam didn't warrant. I tried with these 3 as
well, but no luck! I have a feeling that we will be seeing more of this!
