Thanks, Barbara.  My hunch is that IV fluids in and of themselves would
probably not make a big difference in the baby's weight, unless they were
coupled with Pitocin, and lots of it.   It sounds like a great beginning
study -- one of our questions a while back (a LONG while back) here on
Lactnet, was whether or not the IVs caused maternal edema or if it was the
Pitocin that caused it.

Since we know Pitocin has an antidiuretic effect, it would stand to reason
that if the mom gets Pit in labor, so does the baby -- and the antidiuretic
effect would be in both, at least for a while.

Would love it if someone would take this a bit further.
