I think this is probably worded in a fairly "good" way, at least. If
they'd said something like "baby dies in a refugee camp because her
mother's milk wasn't nourishing enough" it would probably send the
message that breastmilk isn't good enough for babies. The way it's
worded gives the impression that it's because of the mother's
malnourishment, therefore we should nourrish the mother in order for the
baby to survive. At least that's the impression I get out of it.
Sad story though. :-(
