Katherine, The following quote was taken from a book called BREASTS by Ayalah
and Weinstock, 1970 and used as my introduction to my Masters thesis:
"It occurs to me that when you breastfeed, food is coming out of you and going
into another human being, so through the nipple flows life and creativity. And
the life-giving character of the female of the species should be symbolized by
the nipple because it is not just the fact ahta a child is born of a woman's
body that makes her the 'life-giver'. Giving birth is not enough! Children
can come out of our bodies and be left to die if they are not wanted, and then
wwhat? But the nipple is truly a transmitter of love and life" (p 153).
-Anonymous Mother.
I hope you like it.
