First, maybe what's in, or not in, breast milk is NORMAL. Baby normally
gets it from other sources, i.e. Vit D from short periods in the sun.
Baby does not NEED fluoride. AAP Position Paper says no baby should have
fluoride supps before 6 months of age. I believe it's the BF & Use of Human
Milk paper issued in 1997.
It's one of my issues with the fluoridated water we have in our city. If an
ABM baby consumes 10,000+ oz of water mixed in powdered formula, how much -
exactly - fluoride does this baby get in that first year? How much is
'officially' toxic? What kind of problems can fluoride cause? How much does
it take to cause these problems? Yes, the MD probably says baby will have
rotten teeth without womb to tomb fluoride, but if you check out Dr. Brian
Palmer's (he's a DDS) site, you'll find that isn't quite true. If I recall,
he got to examine hundreds of skulls in the back rooms of the Smithsonian
Museum of Natural History. He found more cavities in the skull of a child
who died in the middle of the 20th Century, than in all the skulls he saw
of people who died prior to 1900! Probably 99% were breastfed and didn't
have the 'benefits' of artifically fluoridated water. D'ya think there's
some connection with diet & lifestyle?
