okay. i didn't see the episode, but i am willing to send a letter or email
(mary alice, what is the email?). not that it will ever get back to the
viewers what bf an older child is really like. i really riles me to have
that info put oout to the public by people who don't have a clue. I don't
know any mom who encouraged an older child to continue bf. On the contrary,
as was recently mentioned on lactnet, they are encouraged to wean and
sometimes given a weaning party. my own dtr nursed til 5, maybe close to 6.
at the end it was just a suck to relax. i was ready for her to stop, believe
me, as much as i loved bf and love her. i was dry w/o milk. it was painful
and my back ached to position next to her and nurse. when she was a bit
younger she would fall asleep and BITE down so hard and that was so painful
and many injuries I sustained. My point being that at the end of a long
nursing relationship moms I know of, including myself, were definitely not
encouraging their child to continue, and often had little or no milk to
express. Expressing a thermos? right.
