I am looking for current practices concerning initiating pumping for
multiples, augmentation and reductions. If baby/babies are breastfeeding
WELL, do you initiate pumping post feeding to maximize prolactin receptors?
After every feed, every other feed, 3-4 times in 24 hours?
Do you recomend pumping in the first 24 hours post delivery, after 48 hours,
or after the milk is in?
Do you have concerns about "super stimulation" causing increased engorgement?
Do you treat augmentations and reductions as equally at risk for reduced milk
supply?
I have searched the literature and the archives, and find pumping guidelines
only when the baby is not at the breast, or lack of milk transfer/removal. I
have not found the pumping "proactively" recommended in my readings.
I am researching for updating current policies, and practices.
Thanks,
Lu Bush
