I would like to poll lactnetters for their clinical experience in how often
and to what degree hypothyroidism impacts milk supply. We know that it
*can*, but does it always? What about degree of severity, or replacement
therapy? Noted associations or correlations? I realize that there are
compounding issues of primary, secondary, and pregnancy-induced
hypothyroidism. My questions:
What percentage of hypothyroid moms had milk supply problems?
If mom was not previously dx'd or treated, did replacement therapy make a
difference?
If the mother had already been in treatment, did she have any problems with
milk supply?
Please cc me privately as well as to the list if you have experience to
share.
Thank you,
Lisa Marasco
