Don't forget that there are exceptions. I can't think of a reference I have seen in the last year or so. (Sorry) However, I was once at a conference in Melbourne and both the person next to me in an activity and myself had *gained* weight while tandem breastfeeding. I gained considerable weight during my last, non-tandem BF, lactation. On the other hand, during pregnancy, my metabolism apparently speeds up as I can eat like a horse and *lose* weight when pregnant.
While the literature suggests postpartum weightloss is more common than the opposite, I think there is more to be learnt than we yet know.
Cheers,
Virginia
