Hatred?
I think not. I refer to murder at WTC - hardly supportive of terrorism -
even if I agreed with bin Laden's message I could never support such
means.
The gist was that I fear for children who rely on BF in war zones [be
they Israeli, Buddhist, Moslem or Martian]. The post is related to
problems that mothers may have with milk diminishing - if this was [and
it would be expected] a problem in USA one must ponder on the effects on
an oppressed people who have little access to world news although they
are now in the front line.
As a British writer I would of course comment that concentration camps
were a British innovation from the Boer War [not a source of pride] and
that such camps can be said to exist where refugees are packed in tight
in minimal space and with intolerable mortality rates. As such they
exist globally. The holocaust was the most extreme manifestation of the
same [and encompassed trade unionists / homosexuals / gipsies / ethnic
minorities / disabled / mentally ill etc as well as the majority Jewish
victims]
I feel I concur with others who feel we should feed the mothers - but
the aid agencies are adamant we are failing to do this. Indeed they
state we are indulging in a cynical public relations exercise.
Political posting? Yes - just from a different view from all the *other*
recent political posts.
Personal perspective - it would have been preferable to put in
specialist troops to destroy Al Qaeda / bin Laden and the other
fundamentalists without the bombing.
I just feel that terrorism wherever it arises is unacceptable and that
there is no nation which has *not* been guilty at some stage. If the War
of Independence had been lost then Washinton would have been hung for
terrorism....
I apologise for any offence - but read what is there as well as what you
see...... We are all guilty. I would also point out I have had letters
of agreement too from Lactnet.
Mandela was a terrorist, Begin was a terrorist, Putin and Zemin have
poor human rights records, Indonesia is in contravention of UN
requirements - yet all their states are members of the coalition. All I
am saying is 'give peace a chance' and let us contextualise our global
response. The Politics of Breastfeeding is at stake.
Sarcasm - hmmm, yes I apologise for the last sentence - but what I
wished to convey was that none of us is in a position to throw the first
stone [as we should be turning the other cheek]. Also remember that
today's terrorist is often tomorrow's head of state [but hopefully not
in this instance].
Perhaps it would be preferable to reply to me off list if you wish to
rant or comment - I am happy to have a reasoned discussion. But having
made my BF point I will no longer use Lactnet for this topic.
Still in peace
Tony Knox
