When I was breastfeeding my hubby was often asked if he resented not being
able to bond by bottle-feeding. He replied, *No more than I resent not have
had the experience of giving birth -it is not what men do!*
With all the push for equality between the sexes - and i am all for that! -
we sometimes forget that men and women really are different in many ways. We
are only just beginning to discover that males and females - and older
people - process and react to drugs differently. I think that avoiding
sex-stereotyping can actually go too far. There are still a few things that
only mummies can do, and some that only daddies can do. Birthing and
breastfeeding are two of them. Babies are MEANT to be breastfed - why tamper
with that unnecessarily?

Isn't this why we have dolls? My daughter used to nurse her dolly while I
nursed her baby sister.

I love the look on mothers' - and fathers's! - faces when I point this out
to them. OOOOOOOHHHHHHHH!!!!!! You mean I have to get up in the middle of
the night to pump if I don't want to get engorged? OHHHHHHHH!
DUH!
