My almost 11 year old son has a diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome as well as
a host of other emotional/mental disorders (including, but not limited to,
ADHD, ODD, OCD). He was breastfed for 19 months and was in my arms, in a
sling or at my breast almost constantly for the first year. He comes home
Wednesday after spending three months in a residential treatment facility
for ED kids and has had 2 other psychiatric hospitalizations this year. I
know in my heart that attachment parenting (thank you LLL) and breastfeeding
probably saved his life. I have no regrets about his early life and I am
profoundly grateful that, if nothing else, that kid sure could nurse!
