Today I had a call from a mom, 6 weeks postpartum. Her OB gave her the
option of depo-provera or the new monthly birth control shot, Lunel. She
chose to take the Lunel shot and then had reservations and called to find out
informaton. (Her OB said it would not affect her milk supply) I could not
find this in Hale. She called the office and was told that Lunel is a
combination of progestin and estrogen. Is this true? We talked about
observing for a decrease in milk supply, sufficient wet and dirty diapers and
extra feeds/pumping to maintain supply. Does anyone have any experience with
this medication? Any suggestions or information is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Linda Goldberg RN, CCE, IBCLC (hooray, I passed)
Winter Springs, FL
